The Management of the University of Benin has yet again given an award to Dr Cairo Ojougboh for his selfless contributions to the numerous developmental projects in the university community especially in the area of sports.

The Vice Chancellor Prof. F.F.O Orumwense ably represented by the Deputy Vice Chancellor while giving the award noted that it was because of Dr Cairo’s commitment to the university that he comes on his own to make all the donations he had been making over the years towards the development of the university. He further urged Dr Cairo to reach out to his former classmates and fellow alumni to act in the same capacity as he had been doing to make UNIBEN retain its greatness.

Dr Cairo Ojougboh who is currently an aspirant of the 2019 Governorship election under the All Progressive congress (APC) in Delta state is an alumnus of the university and graduated from the Department of Medicine and Surgery. He is a staunch lover of basketball, a former captain and had represented UNIBEN trice in the NUGA games.

Ever since graduation, Dr Cairo had been an advocate for the development of basketball within the university community, in view of this, the entire basketball community including the directors, coaches and most especially the players deemed it fit to also award him for his contributions to the development of the game.
Representatives of the students Union Government headed by the speaker of the House and students under the aegis of Delta state students association UNIBEN Chapter led by the chapter President were filled with praises for Dr Cairo Ojougboh and offered him full support towards his Governorship aspiration.

In response Dr Cairo showed appreciation for the recognition and promised to meet with his colleagues/business partners  and the schools director of sports to see what they can come up with contributively.
He admonished the students to primarily face their studies as that was the basis for their presence in school before delving into any other venture on campus. Finally, he encouraged them to shun greed after they had left the university and had become established in their various fields. He ended with the quote ” take only what belongs to you, leave what belongs to the society for the society” also reminding them that no matter how rich they become if their neighbours were poor then they were still poor.
