A housewife has reported her husband, Charles Godwin, to the Police in Lagos after she allegedly caught him having sex with their 11-year old daughter on their matrimonial bed.

P.M.EXPRESS reports that the incident happened at Alhaji Jinadu Street, Afromedia area of Okokomaiko, Lagos, where they reside.

Police operatives from the Gender Section of the Command have arrested Godwin for defilement which attracts life imprisonment if he is tried and found guilty before the Court.

According to Police sources, the 35-year old Godwin took advantage of his wife’s absence from home to engage the girl in sex and she lost her virginity. He reportedly warned her never to tell anybody including her mother and continued to violate her with threats.

P.M.EXPRESS gathered that the victim had been living with the trauma because when she revealed the dastardly act to her mother, she was shouted down until the day her mother allegedly caught her husband in the act.
Hence, the matter was reported to the Police in the area; Police operatives then arrested Godwin and transferred to the Gender Section for interrogation.

It was learnt that Godwin admitted committing the offence but claimed that it was temptation and pleaded for forgiveness.
However, the Police found him culpable and charged him accordingly before the Ogba Magistrates Court. But the Court did not take his plea after the prosecutor, Supol Benson Emerhi, asked the Court to refer the matter to the DPP for advice.
The Presiding Magistrate, Mr. P.E. Nwaka, ordered his remand in Correctional Centre without an option of bail. He then directed the prosecutor to duplicate the file and send to the DPP for advice while Godwin will remain in custody pending the outcome of the DPP’s advice.
