The police in Lagos have arrested a 37-year old lady, one Veronica Vincent, for alleged sexual assault on a 2-year old girl in a bid to satisfy her sexual desire.

The incident happened at Ararait Street by Egbeda Bus Stop in Idimu area of Lagos, Lagos where they reside.

P.MEXPRESS gathered that Veronica lured the 2-year old victim into her apartment, removed her pant and penetrated the victim’s private part with her finger.
However, the matter got exposed after the victim’s mother searched and traced her to Veronica’s apartment. Upon entering, she discovered that her pant was tempered with. She then checked her private part and noticed that the victim was violated and Veronica allegedly responsible.
The matter was reported to the police at Idimu Division and Veronica was arrested. She was later transferred to the Gender Section of the Police Command.
After investigation, she was found culpable and the police charged before the Ogba Magistrates Court for sexual assault.
The court did not grant the lady bail after the prosecutor, Inspector Benson Emerhi, informed the court that it was a case of defilement and would need the DPP’s advice.
Thus, the Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. O. Sule Amzat, ordered her to be remanded in prison custody without an option of bail.
The court also directed the prosecutor to duplicate the file and send to the DPP for advice.
The matter was adjourned till 22nd April, 2019, when the court expected the DPP report to be ready.
P.M.EXPRESS gathered that the matter may be transferred to the High Court if the DPP finds the lady culpable and she will then be tried for rape. If she was found guilty, she will spend several years in prison because it is a capital offence despite the fact they were of the same gender.
