A Court in Lagos has ordered the remand of a 24-year old man, Precious Udoyi, who reportedly overpowered a 21-year old girl with a knife and separately tied her legs before raping her.

P.M.EXPRESS reports that the incident happened at 14 Grace Evangel Street at Canal Estate in Ago area of Okota, Lagos.

Udoyi was charged before the Isolo Magistrates Court for the alleged offence after he was arrested by the Ago Police Division.
The 21-year old girl was reportedly lured by Udoyi into an apartment where he demanded for sex but she declined. He was said to have brought out a knife and threatened to kill her if she resisted. He then forced her to remove her clothes and pant and get on the bed. Thereafter, he reportedly tied her legs before engaging her in a sex romp that lasted for several hours.

After he had satisfied himself, he untied the girl and allowed her to go while warning her not to tell anyone what happened.
However, when the girl regained her freedom, she told her parents what happened and the injury she sustained in her private part.
The matter was reported to the police and the suspect, Udoyi, was arrested. After interrogation, he was charged before the Court for rape and threat to life.
The Court did not take his plea and ordered his remand in prison without an option of bail. That happened after the prosecutor, Supol Rita Momah, told the Court that it was a capital offence which needed the DPP’s advice.
Thus, the Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. A.O. Adegite, directed the prosecutor to duplicate the file and send to the DPP for advice.
It was gathered that he may be transferred to the High Court if the DPP finds him culpable and recommends his trial. The matter was adjourned till 22nd June, 2019.
