The Police at Area G Command, Ogba, Lagos, have arrested acclaimed church Prophetess, Yetunde Okunola, 42 and her assistant, Kehinde Salami, 25, for allegedly forcing a 16-year old girl to swallow an iron made object purported to be ‘holy cross’ under the false pretense of delivering her from witchcraft.

P.M.EXPRESS gathered that the said cross was made to stay in the victim’s body for the rest of her life as protection against evil spirit but it turned out a disaster.
The incident happened at the undisclosed church located at 20 Adeyeri Street, Ifako Ijaiye area of Lagos, where the victim went for deliverance.

Rather than the cross to be a source of protection, it turned into a health challenge and the victim opened up to her parents about what happened.
It was gathered that the suspects had lured the victim to the church, instilled fear into her using false prophecy that she was possessed by evil spirit and obtained N2,500 from her to cast out the spirit. Then, they brought the cross, forced her to swallow it before she was allowed to go and assumed that she has been delivered.

When the object began to react in her body, she raised alarm and confessed what happened and how she was forced to swallow the cross.
The matter was reported to the police and the suspects were arrested.

During interrogation, the suspects were said to have confessed to the Police that they did not see any vision and were unable to explain why they asked the victim to swallow the object. The Police found them culpable and charged them before the Ogba Magistrates Court for conspiracy and fraud through false prophecy.
They pleaded not guilty.

The prosecutor, Inspector Kenrich, asked the Court to give a date for hearing to enable the police to prove that the defendants committed the offence.
The Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. T.O. Ojo, granted them bail in the sum of N200,000 with two sureties in like sum.
They were remanded in prison custody pending when they will perfect their bail conditions.
The matter was adjourned till 22nd July, 2019.
